3rd Annual Carry The Load Event & Station 511 Open House

2025 Carry the Load Rally, May 17, 8am-1pm, starting at Lantana Community Church, ending at Denton County ESD 1.

Like last year, Denton County ESD No. 1 will be partnering with Spirit Of A Hero and Carry The Load – a nonprofit organization that supports first responders and veterans.  Carry The Load was founded by Veteran U.S. Navy SEALs and started as a mission to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day by providing active ways to honor our nation’s heroes and raise funds to provide services to first responders, veterans, and their families.  Some of our own personnel and colleagues across other departments have been the recipients of their supportive services.

Our partnership with Carry The Load will include participating in a memorial walk that will begin at 8am from Lantana Community Church and will end at Station 511 around 10am. **Please note that the start and end of the route are at different locations - parking is available at both Lantana Community Church and at Station 511.  We recommend having one vehicle at the beginning and end of the route and carpooling.

Individuals interested in participating can register using the QR code above.

Walkers that are first responders/veterans are encouraged to wear their full fire/police/armed forces gear during the route to represent the "load they carry" for Memorial Day. 

The route also passes by the home of a Gold Star family. 

Refreshments and fun will be provided at Station 511 after the walk at 10am.
